The Pearl

"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it."

~ Matthew 13

New Song Release

I'm so excited and grateful to finally share a new piece of music with you, The Pearl.

This song's story goes back to 2020, a year many of us will never forget. It was a season of waiting and uncertainty for our family. We were separated by immigration, Covid restrictions, closed borders, and all the emotions that came with being apart.

In the middle of that, my daughter got engaged.

Around the time of her engagement, her fiancé also bought her a beautiful pearl ring. When she shared it with me, the name came instantly: The Pearl.

The music suddenly had a story to carry, with Matthew 13 as its thread, because Jesus is the Pearl.

The piece started as one of my piano compositions, written in quiet moments of prayer and reflection. From there, the song developed into a lyric led piece, aided by AI, but it was not a quick or automatic process. Many hours went into shaping it, listening carefully, refining, remixing, and mastering.

My husband has honestly been the star behind the scenes! He became my personal music producer and poured many hours into research and technical work to bring the song to completion. I am deeply thankful for the love and effort he put into it.

This song includes an AI generated vocal, carefully guided and shaped throughout the process. The voice serves the song and the Scripture, while the heart, direction, and intention behind the music remain deeply human and prayer led.

The song mirrors the parable through its focus on devotion and surrender, with lyrics stating, "Everything I clung to had to yield" and "I would give it all / I would lay it down / For the treasure that I've found".

The song describes a shift from "ordinary days" and "borrowed dreams" to a life transformed by the discovery of "mercy" and the "treasure" of the Kingdom of Heaven — of Jesus.

Ultimately, the purpose of the song is to point hearts toward the "incomparable worth of His Kingdom" and to encourage listeners to draw nearer to Jesus.

If you've been following my music, you'll know most of what I release is instrumental soaking music for prayer and stillness. That is not changing. I will continue releasing instrumental pieces, and from time to time I'll also share lyric led songs like this one.

I've shared The Pearl on YouTube so that everyone can listen in one place, and so it's easy to share with others.
