The Story Behind the Song
Breath of God was originally composed in 2009. That was the year the music was first released to me by Holy Spirit. You can read my testimony on my website.
Last week I started working on this piece to remix it and change it into a soaking song. Over the Passover and Resurrection weekend I carried on with the piece, but had it on the backburner, as I was working on three pieces at the same time, and I particularly favoured one called “Vibrations”.
This morning, the day after Resurrection Day, I woke up and started with my Scripture reading as usual. I made myself a cup of coffee and sat with my Bible at Jesus’ feet. I find without fail that when I sit with Jesus in the mornings, He speaks. He shows me truths in the Bible and gives me cross-reference Scriptures and reveals things to me. Sometimes He unexpectedly guides me to Scripture to clarify something I was pondering in my heart the previous week or day. I make notes because some mornings I jokingly cry out, “Slow down please, Jesus, I can’t keep up!”
I wanted to compare the 4 Gospels to see what each said regarding Jesus’ resurrection and the moments thereafter. As I got to the last Gospel, the Gospel of John, I realised he wrote something I did not see in the other 3 Gospels, and it reads: “Jesus breathed on them and they received the Holy Spirit.” Oh my goodness! Breathe... Breath... Breath of God!
I knew then that the next soaking song to be released would be “Breath of God”. The title was also instantly confirmed, as yesterday I decided to name it “Life begins Within”.
So, this morning, on 6 April 2026, I opened the song again and reworked and remixed it slightly, and it is now ready to be released.
Healing Breath was one of the very first compositions in the first year of receiving the gift to play the piano. In 2010, I was ministering with sound at a Christian gathering and a member prophesied, and she said: “Your music is like breath – the breath of God - and as you play, it rests on people like a soft silk - like God’s breath, and people will be healed as you play.”
That is where the name came from, “Healing Breath Music.”
Apart from prophesying with the music, my heart is to also create music, with Jesus, that will move people into that sacred place with Him – soaking prayer music. A place where one will soak in Him; in His presence and allow His Spirit to move within. Sound can move where water can’t enter. It can go into the deepest part of your soul and spirit, and that is where God can use it to heal. We need to take that time with Him and allow Him to reach those areas so that complete restoration can take place.

When God Breathes
Throughout Scripture, the breath of God is connected with life, His Spirit, and His presence.
In the beginning, God formed Adam from the dust of the ground. The body was there, formed and complete, but something was still missing.
“And breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.”
GENESIS 2:7
Life began when God breathed.
Job speaks of something similar:
“The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.”
JOB 33:4
There is a beautiful connection in Scripture between breath, wind and spirit. In Hebrew, the word ruach can carry the sense of spirit, wind or breath. In the New Testament, the Greek word pneuma is also used in connection with spirit and wind.
That helps us understand why Jesus used the picture of wind when He spoke about the work of the Spirit, and why the moment in John 20 is so striking.
After His resurrection, Jesus stood among His disciples:
“He breathed on them, and said to them, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit.’”

This was not simply a beautiful gesture.
The One through whom all things were created was breathing upon His disciples.
Genesis begins with the Spirit of God moving over creation. Humanity receives life through the breath of God. And now the risen Christ breathes upon His followers and speaks of the Holy Spirit.
I love what this shows us: God does not only work around us. He wants to work within us.
Sometimes our instinct is to ask God to change everything around us. Change the circumstances. Change the road ahead. Remove the difficulty.
But sometimes His first work is deeper.
He breathes life into places within us that have become weary, quiet or wounded.
He brings His presence into places that words cannot reach.
And perhaps this is why stillness matters.
We stop striving long enough to become aware of the One who is already near.
Pause and Reflect
- Where in my life do I feel weary or spiritually dry?
- Am I giving the Holy Spirit space to work within me, rather than only asking God to change what is around me?
- What might it look like for me simply to become still before Him today?
A Prayer
Lord, God, breathe on me.
Fill me with Your Spirit.
Move in me.
Bring Your life into every place
within me that needs You. Amen.
